E ai gente! It is just about time for another Easter and one more General Conference. I know in past years it is around this time that there is a mission reunion. Does anyone know if we will be having one this year? If not, I personally would love to see everyone. I guess just as a side note, I will be getting married April 30th and would love to have those I grew close to be a part of that special day. Hopefully I won't forget to send an announcement to anyone, but just in case it may be a good idea to email me with a current address. Well,. . . I hope all is well and I'd love to hear from you. Hello All,
Like many of you I was shocked and saddened at the news of Elder Flavio Santana's death. I tried to find someone with his family's contact information for a long time. As many of you know, an article was written about Elder Santana in the Church News, I got a hold of the reporter and he put me in touch with his contact, Anita Joos. Flavio was actually returning from the airport after dropping her off when he was killed. When I contacted Anita, she was so happy to hear from someone that had served with Elder Santana, as the church was such a huge part of his life. Anita gave me some family member's e-mail addresses and said that they would love to hear from anyone that knew him.

Hey mission people. What a shock to hear about the president. I hope he can return to the mission.
As far as the mission site. It is basically sitting here and not maintained. I now serve in the military and do not have time to do anything. I am away from home and probably will be for some time. That is military life. If any alumni is interested in taking it over I would consider giving it up.

In my son's August 13th email he said that President Rais was in Sao Paulo for surgery and a Seventy was filling in for him. Since then I have been told that Pres. Rais had a heart attack in the recent past. I am putting his name in at the nearby temples (Seattle and Columbia River) and would appreciate any information regarding his progress. I'm sure he and his family could use all our prayers.

Hey everyone. I maintain this web site and I have been gone for the summer but now I am home. Just so you know Brazil is still there. I spent several weeks there. It was great, but since it was the winter it rained a lot in the north east and São Paulo was cold, but it was all good. If you have concerns about the web site just send me a message.

I was hurt to read the message about Elder Santana being killed by Sao Paulo Police. What hurt me even more is that nobody seemed to notice. I for one have very fond memories of Elder Santana. He was a source of a lot of strength while I struggled llike I never struggled before in my first area, Nanuque. He helped get me through some very difficult times and I will always be grateful to him for that. I will always remember his sense of humor and his great attitude. I remember him telling me about dental school and how he would be a dentist when he got home. He was a good man and I miss him. What a tragedy.

Well this message is to tell everyone that the administrator has been away and will be away for about 1 more week. He is without a place to live (on vacation) and expects everyone to behave while he is gone. If you need help you can contact his secratary at.... Oh wait he has no job either. Well to be honest I start my career in the Air Force in August and then I will have a home and a lot more.

Since the mission, I have had two surgeries, one on my shoulder(throwing arm) and the other on my back. I got married two years ago to my beautiful wife Julie, no kids Yet!!!! Queridos amigos
Minha familia e eu ficamos emocionados e seremos eternamente gratos por todas as demonstrações de carinho e orações que recebemos de todos vocês. Perdoe-nos por mandarmos uma mensagem igual para todos: gostaríamos de enviar uma especial para cada um, mas são muitos e ainda estamos nos adaptando a vida sem o nosso grande e querido marido, pai e vovô Celso.
As orações de vocês nos tem dado forças e sabemos que o Senhor nos tem " carregado no colo".
Já passou mais de dois meses, mas a dor continua, a dor da saudade e da separação. Sabemos dos propósitos do Senhor e do Plano de Salvação. Sabemos também que precisamos perseverar para sermos dignos de estar com o Celso um dia, e como ele sempre falava, era e continua sendo nosso desejo , que nós e todos os nossos amigos morássemos na mesma rua no Reino Celestial. Minha filha Sandra comentou -" são tantos os amigos e parentes queridos que não será uma rua, mas uma cidade inteira.
Amamos vocês e somos gratos pelo amor e por suas orações.

Thanks Morby. Wow, what a steel trap your mind is. That is the place. Yeah, I never actually ate at Buffalo Bill's but that was the only distinguishing thing I could remember about João Monlevade.
It is all like a dream now. I get these memories of places and people and streets and houses and they all start to melt together. If I had to paint a picture of my time in Brazil it would look completely fantastical at this point. Every person I taught would live in one neighborhood. The chapel would be a crazy mix of every one I every visited. The bus drivers and ticket takers flood through my mind. The strangest thing is the short cuts. Places where I walked through these woods or crossed this makeshift bridge of that river or this field that got me from one neighborhood to the other. All the shortcuts seem to blend into one and I have memories of tromping around in the sticks as much as I do of anything else.

There was a "Lanches Lu" in Viçosa, which was good, and Monlevade didn't have anywhere good to eat except of a pizza place, but I don't remember its name.

Yeah the zone conference you went to was in João Monlevade. I was there with Ribeiro and Vargas. I remeber you brought your hammock and slept on the roof. I don't remember a Buffalo Bill's though and I was there for 7 months.

Some one is telling it is in Joao Monlevade. Is that right? Have I ever been to Joao Monlevade? My last area was Vicosa and I made a trip to the city in question for a zone conference. Yes, the city in question was far from Vicosa and the only thing it had in common with it was that they were both hours east of BH.
At the zone conference was Ribeiro (not Jota) and Vargas. We slept on the roof of the missionary house.
